Possible Causes
Faulty RFID reader module in Land Rover wallbox, Damaged or unsupported RFID card, Misconfigured authorization list in charger, Communication error between RFID module and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety warning: This is a control issue; electrical safety is usually unaffected.
- 1. Try multiple cards: Test with the original Land Rover-supplied RFID card and any additional authorized cards. If none work, the reader may be faulty.
- 2. Check app authorization: In the Land Rover charger app, verify that RFID authorization is enabled and that your cards are registered.
- 3. Clean the reader area: Wipe the RFID reader surface with a soft, dry cloth to remove dirt or moisture.
- 4. Inspect RFID module connection (advanced): With power OFF, open the charger and ensure the RFID module harness is securely connected to the control board.
- 5. Disable RFID (if allowed): Temporarily disable RFID authorization in the installer menu or app to confirm that charging works without it.
- 6. If E17 persists: Replace the RFID reader module or control board as per Land Rover service guidance.
