Possible Causes
Worn or damaged latch mechanism on Type 2 plug, Deformed plug housing from heat or impact, Dirt or debris in vehicle inlet or plug, Misaligned strain relief causing plug angle stress
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety warning: Do not force the connector; forcing can damage pins and create unsafe connections.
- 1. Inspect plug and inlet: Look for visible damage, cracks, or foreign objects in the plug and vehicle inlet.
- 2. Clean gently: Use a soft, dry brush or compressed air (low pressure) to remove dust and debris. Do not use liquids or lubricants on electrical contacts.
- 3. Check latch operation: Squeeze and release the latch on the plug; it should move freely and spring back. If stiff or broken, the cable should be replaced.
- 4. Verify cable routing: Ensure the cable is not under tension or twisted when plugged in; adjust the wallbox position or cable hook if needed.
- 5. Replace worn connector: If insertion remains difficult or the latch does not hold securely, replace the Land Rover Type 2 cable assembly.
