Charger shows E05 or a fault pattern indicating relay/contactor failure; unit may click repeatedly or not at all.

Safety first: Turn OFF the breaker and verify absence of voltage before opening the EVSE. High current components inside can be hazardous.

Steps:

• 1. Listen for contactor operation: With the cover on and power restored, start a charge session and listen for a distinct click from inside the unit. No click suggests a coil or control issue; a single click followed by E05 suggests welded or stuck contacts.
• 2. Visual inspection (qualified person): With power OFF and cover removed, inspect the Leviton power contactor for discoloration, melted plastic, or signs of overheating at the terminals.
• 3. Check terminal tightness: Ensure all line and load lugs on the contactor are tight. Loose lugs can cause arcing and damage.
• 4. Coil and control check: A technician can measure coil resistance and verify that the control board is sending the correct voltage to the coil when a charge is requested. If the coil is open or shorted, replace the contactor. If no control voltage is present, suspect the control board.
• 5. Replace faulty component: If contacts are welded or the coil is defective, the entire contactor assembly should be replaced with the correct Leviton-specified part. Ensure torque specs are followed on all terminals.
