Charger indicates E04 or a fault LED pattern related to pilot signal; EV does not recognize that it is plugged in.
Pilot Signal Failure (Control Pilot Circuit Fault)
E05
Charger shows E05 or a fault pattern indicating relay/contactor failure; unit may click repeatedly or not at all.
Contactor / Relay Welded or Not Closing
E06
Charger displays E06 or indicates a temperature fault; charging stops unexpectedly, often during high current operation.
Overtemperature Shutdown
E07
Charger shows E07 or a fault pattern indicating ground continuity or equipment grounding issue; unit will not charge.
Ground Continuity / Protective Earth Fault
E08
Charger indicates E08 or a communication fault; smart features (Wi‑Fi/app) may fail and charging may be disabled.
Internal Communication / Logic Fault
E09
Charger shows E09 or a fault pattern indicating stuck button or user interface error; front buttons may be unresponsive.
User Interface / Keypad Fault
E10
Charger indicates E10 or a metering error; energy usage data may be unavailable and charging may be limited or disabled.
Internal Metering / Current Sensor Fault
E11
Charger shows E11 or a fault pattern indicating stuck relay test failure; self-test at power-up fails.
Self-Test / Contactor Feedback Fault
E12
Charger indicates E12 or a configuration error; unit may refuse to charge after installation or settings change.
Configuration / DIP Switch / Current Limit Error
E13
Charger shows E13 or a proximity detection fault; EV may lock/unlock connector erratically or refuse to start charge.
Proximity Pilot (PP) Circuit Fault
E14
Charger indicates E14 or an insulation monitoring fault; unit refuses to energize output.
Isolation / Insulation Resistance Fault
E15
Charger shows E15 or a timekeeping/RTC error; scheduled charging may fail or unit may not start at programmed times.
Real-Time Clock / Scheduling Fault
E16
Charger indicates E16 or a Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth module error; smart connectivity is unavailable, but basic charging may still work.
Wireless Communication Module Fault
E17
Charger shows E17 or a contactor pre-charge / inrush fault; unit may start then immediately stop charging.
Inrush / Pre-Charge Circuit Fault
E18
Charger indicates E18 or a lockout due to repeated ground fault or overcurrent events; unit will not reset normally.
Safety Lockout After Repeated Faults
E19
Charger shows E19 or a firmware integrity error; unit may not boot fully and LEDs may flash in a repeating pattern.
Firmware Corruption / Bootloader Fault
E20
Charger indicates E20 or a line frequency error; unit refuses to charge even though voltage appears normal.
Line Frequency Out of Range
Symptom
Charger completely dead: no LEDs, no display, no relay click when EV is plugged in.
No Power to EVSE
Symptom
Charger emits a loud humming or buzzing noise from the enclosure during operation.
Excessive Contactor or Transformer Hum
Symptom
Charger intermittently stops charging mid-session without any visible error; charging resumes after unplugging and replugging.
Intermittent Charge Interruption
Symptom
Charger powers up and shows ready, but will not start charging when plugged into any EV; no error code displayed.
Failure to Initiate Charge Without Error
Symptom
Charger trips the upstream GFCI or AFCI breaker or receptacle as soon as charging starts.
Nuisance Tripping of Upstream Protection
Symptom
Charger’s cable insulation is cracked, stiff, or discolored, especially near the handle or strain relief.
Aged or UV-Damaged Charge Cable
Symptom
Charger’s energy usage readings in the app are clearly inaccurate (too high or too low) compared to vehicle data.
Inaccurate Internal Metering
Symptom
Charger’s front cover is cracked or broken, exposing internal components to dust and moisture.
Damaged Enclosure / Impact Damage
Symptom
Charger’s front cover or mounting bracket is loose or rattling; unit may move when plugging/unplugging.
Mechanical Mounting / Enclosure Looseness
Symptom
Charger’s front enclosure or cable feels unusually hot to the touch during normal charging.
Overheating of Cable or Internal Connections
Symptom
Charger’s front LEDs do not light at all, but the unit still charges the vehicle normally.
LED Indicator Failure
Symptom
Charger’s internal fan (if equipped) runs loudly or fails to run, causing thermal derating or shutdown.
Cooling Fan Failure
Symptom
Charger’s internal GFCI test button (if present) does not trip the unit, or trips but will not reset.
Internal GFCI Self-Test Failure
Symptom
Charger’s scheduled charging does not start at the programmed time, but manual charging works.
Scheduling / Timer Misconfiguration
Symptom
Charger’s status LEDs flicker or dim erratically while charging, but charging continues.
LED Power / Low-Voltage Supply Instability
Symptom
Charger’s Wi‑Fi/app shows it is offline or unreachable, but local charging still works normally.
Network Connectivity Loss
Symptom
Visible arcing or sparking at the J1772 connector when plugging in or unplugging, sometimes accompanied by a burning smell.
Connector Arcing / Poor Contact
Symptom
Water or condensation visible inside the EVSE enclosure window or around the cable entry; charger may behave erratically.
