Possible Causes
Open equipment grounding conductor to EVSE, Loose ground lug inside charger, Corroded or damaged ground connection in service panel, Faulty ground detection circuit on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not bypass or defeat the ground connection. Turn OFF the breaker before opening any covers.
Steps:
- 1. Visual check at panel: Confirm the EVSE branch circuit has a proper equipment grounding conductor connected at the service panel. Look for loose or disconnected ground wires (electrician only).
- 2. Inspect EVSE ground lug: With power OFF and cover removed by a qualified person, verify the ground wire is securely attached to the Leviton EVSE ground terminal and that the terminal is tight to the chassis.
- 3. Continuity test: An electrician can test continuity between the EVSE chassis and the service panel ground bar. Any open or high-resistance reading must be corrected.
- 4. Check for corrosion: In coastal or damp environments, inspect ground connections for corrosion. Clean and re-terminate as needed.
- 5. Internal fault: If grounding is confirmed good but E07 persists, the ground monitoring circuit on the control PCB may be faulty and require board replacement.
