Possible Causes
Interrupted firmware update, Power loss during update, Flash memory failure on microcontroller, Incompatible firmware image loaded
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No high-voltage work is required for firmware recovery, but do not open the unit unless instructed by Leviton support.
Steps:
- 1. Attempt normal reboot: Turn OFF the breaker for 5 minutes, then ON. Observe if the unit boots normally.
- 2. Check for recovery mode: Some Leviton models support a recovery or safe mode for firmware reloading via USB or app. Consult the manual or Leviton support.
- 3. Reapply firmware: If a recovery method is available, download the correct firmware for your exact model and follow the update procedure carefully. Do not interrupt power during the process.
- 4. If recovery fails: Persistent E19 after attempted recovery indicates flash memory or microcontroller failure. The main control board will need replacement.
