Possible Causes

Damaged J1772 control pilot wire in charge cable, Corroded or bent J1772 pins, Faulty control pilot driver circuit on main control board, Loose internal wiring to J1772 connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the Megear charger from the wall outlet or turn off the dedicated breaker before opening or handling the unit. Never work on the charger while it is energized.

  • 1. Power-cycle the system:
    • Unplug the Megear EVSE from the wall (or switch off the breaker).
    • Unplug the J1772 connector from the vehicle.
    • Wait 2–3 minutes, then reconnect power and plug into the vehicle again to see if E01 clears.
  • 2. Inspect the J1772 connector:
    • Check the small control pilot pin (usually the thin pin) for bending, corrosion, or contamination.
    • Clean light debris with a soft, dry brush. Do not use metal tools that can damage the pins.
    • If pins are heavily corroded or loose, the cable assembly should be replaced.
  • 3. Check cable strain and damage:
    • Run your hand along the Megear charge cable and look for kinks, cuts, or crushed sections.
    • If the cable jacket is cut or you can see copper conductors, stop using the charger immediately and replace the cable assembly.
  • 4. Internal wiring check (advanced):
    • With power disconnected, remove the Megear charger housing screws.
    • Verify that the pilot wire connection from the main control board to the cable harness is firmly seated and not burnt or loose.
    • If the connector is damaged or the board shows burn marks, the main control board or cable harness must be replaced.
  • 5. Test with another EV (if available):
    • If E01 appears with multiple vehicles, the fault is likely in the charger.
    • If it only appears with one vehicle, the issue may be with the car’s charge port.

If E01 persists after these checks, discontinue use and contact a qualified EVSE technician or Megear support.
