E04
Charger displays E04 and does not energize; vehicle does not detect charging current.
Relay / Contactor Welded or Open Fault
E05
Charger shows E05 and stops charging; may occur after a few minutes of operation, especially in hot environments.
Overtemperature Protection Triggered
E06
Charger displays E06 and will not start charging; sometimes appears after a power surge or lightning event.
Internal Self-Test Failure / Control Board Fault
E07
Charger shows E07 and the vehicle does not detect charging; may occur intermittently when plugging in.
Proximity Pilot / Plug Detection Fault
E08
Charger displays E08 and stops charging; may occur when the vehicle requests more current than the charger can provide.
Overcurrent / Output Overload Fault
E09
Charger shows E09 and refuses to start; often associated with tripping of upstream breaker or RCD/GFCI.
Line-to-Ground or Line-to-Line Short Detected
E10
Charger displays E10 and the LEDs flash; unit does not respond to button presses (if equipped).
Display/Keypad Communication Error
E11
Charger shows E11 and charging stops; may occur when the vehicle is unplugged during active charging.
Unexpected Disconnection / Arc Detection Fault
E12
Charger displays E12 and will not start; often after installation or rewiring.
Ground Missing or High Ground Impedance
E13
Charger shows E13 and LEDs flash rapidly; unit may have been exposed to water or installed outdoors without adequate protection.
Moisture Ingress / Insulation Resistance Fault
E14
Charger displays E14 and does not start; may occur when using extension cords or adapters.
Line Impedance / Voltage Drop Fault
E15
Charger shows E15 and the current display (if present) reads zero; vehicle may show ‘Charging paused by EVSE’.
Pilot Duty Cycle / Current Limit Signal Fault
Symptom
Charger appears to work, but vehicle reports slower than expected charging speed.
Reduced Output Current / Derating
Symptom
Charger cable or J1772 handle feels unusually warm or hot during charging.
Localized Overheating at Connector or Cable
Symptom
Charger does not power on at all; no LEDs or display, even when plugged into a known-good outlet.
No Power / Dead Unit
Symptom
Charger emits a high-pitched whining noise even when not actively charging.
Switching Power Supply Noise
Symptom
Charger enclosure is cracked, warped, or physically damaged, but it still appears to function.
Compromised Enclosure / Mechanical Damage
Symptom
Charger gets very hot to the touch during normal charging, though it continues to operate.
Excessive Thermal Rise / Inadequate Cooling
Symptom
Charger housing or cable emits a burning or electrical smell during or after charging.
Overheating / Component Breakdown
Symptom
Charger intermittently stops charging without any error code; charging resumes if unplugged and replugged.
Intermittent Connection / Thermal Cutback
Symptom
Charger is installed outdoors and shows signs of rust on mounting hardware or around cable entry.
Corrosion / Environmental Degradation
Symptom
Charger LED indicators are dim, flickering, or unreadable, but charging still works.
LED / Display Power Degradation
Symptom
Charger makes a loud buzzing or humming noise during charging.
Noisy Relay or Transformer Vibration
Symptom
Charger powers on but will not start charging; LEDs show ready, but when plugged into the vehicle nothing happens and no error code is displayed.
No Charge Start / Pilot Not Recognized
Symptom
Charger randomly resets or reboots during charging; LEDs go off and back on without user input.
Control Power Instability
Symptom
Charger trips the household breaker or RCD/GFCI as soon as charging starts, but no error code appears on the charger.
Nuisance Tripping / High Inrush or Leakage
Symptom
Charger’s built-in cable holder or hook is broken, causing the cable to hang by the connector.
Cable Management Hardware Failure
Symptom
Charger’s cable insulation shows cracks, cuts, or exposed conductors.
Cable Insulation Damage
Symptom
Charger’s J1772 connector will not latch securely into the vehicle inlet or frequently pops out.
Mechanical Latch / Proximity Switch Misalignment
Symptom
Charger’s status LEDs do not match the actual charging state (e.g., shows ready while actively charging).
