Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before inspecting the J1772 handle internals. Do not attempt to charge while the proximity circuit is known to be faulty.
- 1. Check connector insertion:
- Ensure the J1772 plug is fully seated in the vehicle inlet until it clicks.
- Remove and reinsert firmly; do not force if resistance is felt.
- 2. Inspect the J1772 handle:
- Look for cracks, loose trigger, or signs of impact damage.
- Check that the latch/trigger moves freely and returns to position.
- 3. Cable continuity (advanced):
- With power disconnected, open the J1772 handle if it is serviceable.
- Verify that the proximity switch or resistor network is intact and that wires are not broken at the strain relief.
- Use a multimeter to check continuity of the proximity pilot wire from the handle to the charger end.
- 4. Replace cable assembly if needed:
- If the proximity switch or wiring is damaged, the most reliable repair is to replace the entire Megear J1772 cable assembly.
If E07 continues after verifying the connector and cable, the proximity detection circuit on the main control board may be defective and require board replacement.
