Possible Causes

Internal DC leakage detected by RCD module, Faulty RCD/RCM sensor on control board, Moisture ingress in charge connector, Vehicle-side insulation fault causing leakage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset a device that is tripping on ground fault. This may indicate a real safety issue.

  • Inspect the cable and plug: Disconnect the vehicle. Check the NewMotion charging cable and Type 2 connector for cracks, burn marks, or moisture. Dry the connector thoroughly if wet.
  • Check for external RCD trip: Inspect the upstream distribution board. If the house RCD/RCBO has tripped, reset it once. If it trips again when starting a charge, stop and investigate further.
  • Try another vehicle: If possible, test the charger with a different EV. If E002 only occurs with one vehicle, the fault may be on the vehicle side.
  • Visual inspection inside unit: After isolating power, open the charger and inspect the RCD/RCM sensor ring and associated wiring for signs of moisture, corrosion, or damage.
  • Dry and reseal: If moisture is present, carefully dry the interior, check the door gasket and cable gland seals, and reassemble. Do not use the unit until fully dry.
  • Component replacement: If E002 persists and no external cause is found, the internal RCD module or control PCB may be faulty and should be replaced by a qualified technician.

Do not bypass safety: Never bypass or short the RCD/RCM sensor. This is a critical safety component.
