Possible Causes

Incorrect PP resistor in cable, Damaged PP contact in socket, Broken PP wire in tethered cable, Faulty PP sensing circuit on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before testing PP wiring.

  • Test with another cable: For socketed NewMotion chargers, plug in a known-good Type 2 cable. If E008 disappears, the original cable’s PP resistor or wiring is faulty.
  • Inspect PP pin: Examine the PP pin in the socket/plug for deformation or contamination. Clean gently if needed.
  • Measure PP resistance: With the cable disconnected from the charger, measure resistance between PP and PE (earth) on the cable plug. Compare to standard values (e.g., ~220 Ω for 32 A). Replace the cable if out of spec.
  • Check internal PP wiring: For tethered units, verify continuity of the PP conductor from the main PCB to the plug. Repair or replace the tethered cable if open or shorted.
  • PCB diagnosis: If PP wiring and cable are correct, the PP sensing input on the main PCB may be faulty and require board replacement.
