Possible Causes
Failed SMPS on main PCB, Shorted low-voltage rail due to peripheral fault, Surge damage from lightning or grid spikes, Loose low-voltage connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Internal power supplies are connected to mains; only qualified personnel should service them.
- Power cycle: Turn off the charger’s breaker for several minutes, then restore power. Observe if the LED ring and app connectivity return normally.
- Check for burning smell: With power off and cover removed, smell near the main PCB for burnt components. Visually inspect for bulged capacitors or charred areas.
- Disconnect peripherals: Temporarily disconnect non-essential modules (RFID reader, external meter interface, Wi-Fi module) from the main PCB and re-test. A shorted peripheral can drag down the low-voltage rail.
- Measure low-voltage rails: If qualified, measure the 5 V/12 V rails on the PCB test points. Absence or severe droop indicates SMPS failure.
- Replace main PCB: The auxiliary supply is usually integrated into the main control PCB. Replace the board as a complete unit following ESD precautions.
