Possible Causes

Vehicle not supporting requested mode, Faulty CP/PP signaling, Incompatible firmware behavior, Damaged Type 2 socket or cable pins

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not attempt to modify vehicle-side connectors.

  • Try another vehicle: Connect a different EV to determine whether the issue is charger-side or vehicle-side.
  • Inspect connector pins: Check both the charger’s Type 2 socket and the vehicle inlet for bent, recessed, or contaminated pins. Clean gently if needed.
  • Check CP/PP errors: If E007 or E008 also appear in logs, resolve those pilot issues first, as they can cause E018.
  • Firmware update: Ensure the charger firmware is up to date via the NewMotion portal, as compatibility improvements are often included.
  • Reset charger and vehicle: Power cycle the charger and reboot the vehicle (lock/wait/unlock) before retesting.
  • Hardware replacement: If E018 persists with multiple vehicles and cables, suspect the Type 2 socket module or main PCB and replace as per service procedures.
