Possible Causes
Loss of internet connectivity, DNS or firewall blocking OCPP server, Incorrect OCPP server URL or credentials, Faulty network module (Ethernet/Wi-Fi/Cellular)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Network troubleshooting does not require opening the charger in most cases.
- Check local network: Verify that your router and internet connection are working. Test with another device on the same network.
- Verify cabling: For Ethernet-connected NewMotion chargers, check the RJ45 cable and link LEDs. Replace the cable if suspect.
- Wi-Fi signal: For Wi-Fi models, ensure the charger is within range and the SSID/password are correct. Avoid captive portals.
- Firewall/DNS: Ensure that outbound connections to NewMotion/OCPP servers are allowed. Consult NewMotion documentation for required ports and hostnames.
- Re-enter OCPP settings: In the installer portal, confirm the OCPP server URL, charge point ID, and credentials are correct.
- Network module fault: If connectivity is fine for other devices but the charger cannot connect, the internal network module (Ethernet/Wi-Fi/cellular modem) may be faulty and require replacement.
