Possible Causes

Loose LCD ribbon cable, Damaged LCD module, Incorrect contrast or backlight settings, Faulty LCD driver on main board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power before opening the enclosure.

  • Step 1 – Check backlight: In a dark room, look for any faint glow from the LCD. If backlight is on but no text, the data lines may be disconnected.
  • Step 2 – Reseat cable: Open the enclosure and carefully reseat the LCD ribbon or header connector on both the LCD and main board.
  • Step 3 – Inspect for damage: Look for cracks in the LCD glass or burn marks on the module. Replace the LCD if physically damaged.
  • Step 4 – Test via Wi-Fi: If the EVSE operates normally via web interface, the main board is likely fine and only the LCD or its connection needs replacement.
  • Step 5 – Replace LCD or board: If reseating does not help, replace the LCD module. If a new LCD still fails, the LCD driver on the main board may be defective; replace the main board.
