Possible Causes
Failing low-voltage regulator on main board, Loose low-voltage connector to LCD or Wi-Fi module, Electrical noise or surges on AC line, Overheating of main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before opening the enclosure.
- Step 1 – Check for heat: After a reset event, feel the outside of the enclosure for hot spots. Overheating may indicate poor ventilation or failing components.
- Step 2 – Inspect connectors: Reseat connectors between the main board, LCD, and Wi-Fi module to ensure solid low-voltage connections.
- Step 3 – Measure low-voltage rails: With appropriate caution and tools, measure the 5 V and 3.3 V rails on the main board during operation. Significant dips or noise suggest regulator failure; replace the main board.
- Step 4 – Surge protection: Consider adding a whole-house surge protector or dedicated surge device for the EVSE circuit.
