Possible Causes
Damaged enclosure gasket, Unsealed cable entry or conduit, Installation in area with direct water spray, Missing or blocked drain/weep holes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power immediately if water is present inside the enclosure. Do not operate until fully dry and inspected.
- Step 1 – Dry the unit: With power OFF and cover removed, gently dry internal components with a clean cloth and allow to air dry completely. Do not use high heat directly on boards.
- Step 2 – Assess corrosion: Light surface corrosion on terminals can be cleaned with contact cleaner and a brush. Heavy corrosion on the main board or contactor warrants replacement.
- Step 3 – Improve sealing: Inspect and replace the door gasket if cracked or compressed. Ensure cable glands or conduit fittings are properly tightened and rated for outdoor use.
- Step 4 – Provide drainage: Verify that any designed weep holes are clear so condensation can escape.
- Step 5 – Relocate if necessary: If the EVSE is exposed to direct rain or sprinklers beyond its rating, consider adding a weather hood or relocating.
