Pod Point User Authentication / Access Control Lockout

Charger indicates 'Lockout' or 'Authentication Required', vehicle will not charge until authorized

Possible Causes

Charger configured to require app authorization, RFID access control enabled (where supported), Misconfigured schedule or access list in Pod Point backend, Firmware bug in authentication logic

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Note: This is usually a configuration issue rather than a hardware failure.

  • Step 1 – Check Pod Point app: Open the app and verify that the charger is assigned to your account and not set to private or restricted mode that blocks your vehicle.
  • Step 2 – Review schedules: Ensure there is no active schedule preventing charging at the current time. Temporarily disable all schedules and smart features.
  • Step 3 – Re‑authenticate: If RFID or app‑based start is required, present the authorized tag or start the session from the app, then plug in the vehicle in the correct order as specified by Pod Point.
  • Step 4 – Firmware update: Check in the app or with Pod Point support whether a firmware update is available that addresses known lockout issues.
  • Step 5 – Factory reset (technician or guided): If configuration is corrupted, a factory reset may be required. Follow Pod Point’s official procedure or have a technician perform it, then re‑commission the charger.
