Safety first: Network troubleshooting does not require opening the charger; keep the cover closed and power on.

  • Step 1 – Check signal strength: Stand near the charger with a phone and check Wi‑Fi bars. If signal is weak, move the router closer or add a Wi‑Fi extender.
  • Step 2 – Verify credentials: In the Rivian app, forget the charger’s network and re-enter the correct SSID and password. Ensure you are using a 2.4 GHz network if the charger does not support 5 GHz.
  • Step 3 – Router settings: Ensure MAC filtering is disabled or the charger’s MAC address is allowed. Confirm that your router is not blocking outbound traffic required for Rivian cloud connectivity.
  • Step 4 – Power cycle: Reboot both the router and the charger (breaker OFF for 1 minute, then ON).
  • Step 5 – Try hotspot test: Temporarily create a mobile hotspot and connect the charger to it via the app. If it works on hotspot but not home Wi‑Fi, the issue is with your network configuration.
