Possible Causes
Faulty main contactor auxiliary contacts, Defective self-test relay on control board, Wiring issue between contactor and board, Control board logic failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This involves high-voltage switching components. Only qualified persons should open the unit.
- Step 1 – Power cycle: Turn the breaker OFF for 2 minutes, then ON. Attempt a new session to rule out transient logic errors.
- Step 2 – Listen for self-test clicks: At power-up, you should hear brief relay clicks as the charger performs self-tests. No sound may indicate a failed relay or contactor coil.
- Step 3 – Visual inspection: With power OFF and cover removed, inspect the main contactor and any smaller test relays on the control board for burn marks or cracked housings.
- Step 4 – Check auxiliary wiring: Ensure the small-gauge wires from the contactor auxiliary contacts to the control board are intact and firmly connected.
If E011 persists, the contactor or control board assembly will typically need replacement by an EVSE technician.
