Possible Causes
Control board pilot PWM driver failure, Short or open in pilot conductor within cable, Incorrect configuration of maximum current, Electrical noise interfering with pilot signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not modify internal wiring beyond manufacturer specifications.
- Step 1 – Check configuration: In the Rivian app, verify that the maximum current setting matches the installed circuit. Reset to default if unsure.
- Step 2 – Power cycle: Turn the breaker OFF for 1 minute, then ON to reset the pilot driver.
- Step 3 – Cable flex test: While monitoring the charger status (no vehicle connected), gently flex the cable near the charger and near the handle. If E013 appears or clears with movement, the pilot conductor inside the cable is likely damaged.
- Step 4 – Visual board check: With power OFF and cover removed, inspect the pilot output connector on the control board for loose pins or burn marks.
Persistent E013 usually requires replacement of the charge cable assembly or the main control board.
