Possible Causes
Failed metering IC on control board, Loose CT or voltage sense wiring, Corrupted calibration data, Electrical noise on measurement lines
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Metering faults do not usually affect basic safety, but may impact billing or reporting.
- Step 1 – Power cycle: Turn breaker OFF for 1 minute, then ON.
- Step 2 – Check wiring to CTs: With power OFF and cover removed, ensure current transformers and voltage sense leads are firmly connected to the metering section of the control board.
- Step 3 – Compare readings: During a charge, compare the charger’s reported current/energy with an external clamp meter (by a qualified person). Large discrepancies confirm a metering issue.
If E018 persists, the metering circuitry on the control board is likely defective and the board should be replaced.
