Possible Causes

Tripped or faulty breaker, Open internal fuse or thermal cutoff, Loose line connections at terminal block, Failed internal power supply on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: You are dealing with live mains. If unsure, call an electrician.

  • Step 1 – Check breaker: Verify the dedicated breaker is in the ON position. If tripped, reset once. If it trips again immediately, stop and call a professional.
  • Step 2 – Verify outlet or hardwire voltage: For hardwired units, a qualified person should measure voltage at the charger input lugs. For plug-in units, test the receptacle with a known-good load.
  • Step 3 – Inspect internal connections: With breaker OFF and cover removed, check that L1, L2, and ground are securely landed on the terminal block and show no signs of burning.
  • Step 4 – Look for internal fuse: Some Rivian chargers include an internal serviceable fuse or thermal link near the input. If visibly blown, note the rating and replace only with an identical part if manufacturer permits field replacement.

If power is present at the input but the unit remains dead, the internal low-voltage power supply or main control board has likely failed and must be replaced by a technician.
