Possible Causes
Open ground in wall receptacle, Loose ground conductor in Splitvolt plug, Corroded ground connection in service panel, Internal ground monitoring circuit failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: A missing or faulty ground is hazardous. Do not use the charger until the ground issue is resolved.
- Test outlet ground: Use a receptacle tester or multimeter (qualified persons) to verify that the 240V outlet has a proper equipment ground. If the tester indicates an open ground, contact a licensed electrician to correct the wiring.
- Inspect plug ground pin: With power OFF, unplug the Splitvolt charger and inspect the ground pin for bending, corrosion, or damage. Ensure it is firmly attached and not loose in the plug body.
- Check panel connections (electrician only): Have an electrician verify that the circuit’s ground conductor is properly landed in the service panel and that there is no corrosion or loose connection.
- Try another outlet: If your charger is portable and you have another properly wired 240V outlet, test there. If E06 persists on a known-good circuit, the internal ground monitoring circuit may be defective.
- Do not bypass ground: Never use adapters that defeat the ground pin. If internal failure is suspected, arrange for professional service or replacement.
