Possible Causes

Reversed line conductors on a multi-wire branch circuit, Miswired NEMA receptacle, Shared neutral/ground misconfiguration, Internal line-sensing circuit fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Miswiring can create shock and fire hazards. Have an electrician verify wiring if you are not qualified.

  • Inspect receptacle wiring: With power OFF, remove the receptacle cover and verify that the hot, neutral (if present), and ground are connected to the correct terminals according to the NEMA configuration and Splitvolt installation guide.
  • Check for shared circuits: Ensure the outlet is on a dedicated 2-pole breaker with common trip, not two separate single-pole breakers.
  • Use a wiring diagram: Compare the actual wiring to the Splitvolt manual. Correct any reversed or swapped conductors.
  • Test after correction: Restore power and reconnect the charger. If E15 remains on a correctly wired circuit, the internal line-sensing circuit may be defective and require service.
