Possible Causes

Vehicle charge schedule preventing charge, Charger current set too low, Pilot signal marginal but not failing hard, Vehicle not fully seated on connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Ensure the vehicle is in Park and the parking brake is set before connecting or disconnecting the charger.

  • Check vehicle settings: Verify that the EV is not set to delay charging or limit charging to certain times. Override schedules to test immediate charging.
  • Confirm connector engagement: Push the J1772 connector firmly into the vehicle until the latch clicks. A partial connection can prevent charging.
  • Adjust charger current: If the Splitvolt allows current adjustment, increase the current within the circuit and charger limits to ensure the vehicle sees sufficient available current.
  • Try another EV or EVSE: Determine whether the issue follows the charger or the vehicle.
  • If problem persists only with Splitvolt: The pilot signal may be marginal; internal calibration or board replacement may be needed.
