Possible Causes

Vehicle not fully seated in connector, Dirty or oxidized connector pins, Incorrect current setting too low for vehicle, Faulty pilot signal level but within tolerance so no code is thrown

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not attempt to modify the connector pins. Turn off power before any internal inspection.

  • Reconnect to vehicle: Unplug the connector from the EV, wait 10 seconds, and firmly reinsert until you hear/feel the latch click.
  • Inspect connector pins: Look for dirt, insects, or light oxidation on the J1772/Type 2 pins. Clean with electrical contact cleaner and a soft, non-metallic brush.
  • Check current setting: On adjustable Zencar models, ensure the selected current is compatible with your EV and circuit (e.g., not set to 6A if the EV requires a higher minimum).
  • Test with another EV or EVSE: Try another vehicle with the Zencar charger, or try your EV on a different charger to determine if the issue is charger- or vehicle-side.
  • If still no charge and no code: The pilot circuit may be marginal. Have a technician test the main control PCB and output charging cable assembly with proper diagnostic tools.
