Possible Causes
Incorrect current setting on Zencar charger, Undersized or overloaded supply circuit, Shorted output cable conductors, Faulty current sensor on main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Overcurrent conditions can overheat wiring. Turn off the breaker before inspecting wiring or opening the charger.
- Check current setting: On adjustable Zencar models, verify the amp setting (e.g., 16A, 24A, 32A) is not higher than the circuit rating (typically 80% of breaker size). Reduce the setting and test again.
- Inspect supply wiring: Confirm the dedicated circuit breaker and wire gauge match Zencar's installation manual (e.g., 40A breaker with 8 AWG copper for 32A output). Overheated or discolored insulation indicates overload; consult an electrician.
- Check for cable damage: With power OFF, inspect the output cable for severe kinks, crushed sections, or burn marks that could indicate internal shorting. Replace the output charging cable assembly if any damage is found.
- Test with another vehicle: If possible, test the charger with a different EV to rule out vehicle-side faults drawing abnormal current.
- If E03 persists: The internal current sensor (CT) or main control PCB may be defective and require replacement by a service technician.
