Freezer shows E2 and interior temperature is unstable or too cold/too warm intermittently.

Safety warning: Always unplug the freezer before removing covers or handling wiring.

• Reset control: Disconnect power for 5 minutes, then reconnect. If E2 reappears, proceed.
• Locate the cabinet sensor: This sensor is usually behind a small plastic cover on the side or rear wall inside the freezer compartment (sometimes near the top). Remove the cover carefully with a flat screwdriver.
• Inspect sensor and wiring: Check for ice buildup around the sensor, broken wires, or loose connectors. Defrost any ice gently with a hairdryer on low, keeping it away from plastic parts.
• Test the sensor: Disconnect the sensor from the harness and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to the expected NTC value for your Balay model (commonly 4–6 kΩ at 25°C). Infinite or zero resistance indicates failure.
• Replace if faulty: Install a new Balay cabinet NTC temperature sensor, ensuring the sensing tip is fully exposed to the air and the wiring is clipped back into place.
• Reassemble and test: Refit the sensor cover, restore power, and verify that the E2 code disappears and temperature stabilizes over several hours.

If the sensor tests correctly but the error persists, the main PCB may be misreading the sensor and should be evaluated by a professional.
