Possible Causes
Defective magnetic door reed switch, Broken wiring in door harness, Misaligned door magnet, Oxidized switch contacts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before removing any trims or panels.
- Check door operation: Open and close the door while observing the interior light and display. If they flicker or do not change state, the door switch may be faulty.
- Locate the door switch: On Balay freezers, it may be a mechanical plunger switch in the frame or a magnetic reed switch hidden behind the liner.
- Inspect for damage: Look for cracked housings, stuck plungers, or loose magnets in the door gasket area.
- Test continuity: Disconnect the switch and test with a multimeter while pressing/releasing (or bringing a magnet close for reed types). It should open and close reliably.
- Replace faulty switch: Install a new Balay door switch / reed sensor, ensuring correct orientation and secure mounting. If a magnet is used, ensure it is firmly seated in the door.
- Restore power and test: Plug in the freezer and verify that the E7 code clears and that the light and alarms respond correctly to door opening/closing.
If the switch tests good, the wiring to the control board or the board input itself may be defective and should be checked by a technician.
