Possible Causes
Any of the NTC sensors (cabinet, evaporator, ambient) out of range, Sensor wiring harness damage, Connector oxidation on PCB, Short between sensor leads
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing sensors or the control board.
- Power reset: Disconnect power for 10 minutes. If F1 returns, proceed.
- Check visible sensors: Inspect cabinet and evaporator sensors for damage or dislodging (see E1 and E2 procedures).
- Inspect wiring harness: Follow the sensor cables as far as accessible, looking for pinched or cut sections.
- Reseat PCB connectors: Access the main control board and reseat all sensor connectors.
- Test sensors: If you have a multimeter, measure resistance of each sensor and compare to Balay specifications. Replace any sensor that is open, shorted, or far out of expected range.
If all sensors test correctly, the main control board may be misreading them and likely needs replacement by a technician.
