Warning: Components near the compressor can be hot and live. Unplug the freezer and allow it to cool before touching.

Improve ventilation: Ensure there is adequate space around the freezer (check Balay manual, typically several centimeters at sides and back). Remove any items blocking the rear grille.
Clean condenser: Remove the rear lower cover and gently vacuum dust from the condenser coils and fan (if fitted). Do not bend the fins.
Allow cooling: Leave the freezer unplugged for 30–60 minutes to let the compressor cool and the overload reset.
Test operation: Plug back in and monitor. If F2 reappears and the compressor clicks on and off, the overload or compressor may be failing.
Replace overload protector: If accessible, replace the Balay compressor overload protector along with the start device. If the problem persists, the compressor itself may be defective.

Compressor and overload issues often require professional tools and should generally be handled by a technician.
