Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain hole, Ice plug in drain tube, Debris or food particles blocking drain channel, Drain tube misaligned over drip tray
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before removing internal panels. Water on the floor can cause slips.
- Locate drain: Inside the freezer, behind or below the rear panel, there is usually a small drain hole where defrost water exits.
- Clear ice and debris: Use warm (not boiling) water in a turkey baster or syringe to flush the drain hole. Repeat until water flows freely.
- Check rear drain tube: At the back, locate the drain tube leading to the drip tray above the compressor. Ensure it is not kinked or blocked and is correctly positioned over the tray.
- Clean drip tray: Remove and clean the tray if accessible, then reinstall.
After clearing the drain, monitor for further leaks. Persistent leaks may indicate a cracked liner or other issues requiring professional inspection.
