Possible Causes

Defective magnetic reed door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken door switch wiring in cabinet, Faulty door input circuit on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before removing trims or accessing wiring.

Locate the door switch:

  • On many Blomberg freezers, the door switch is a magnetic reed sensor embedded in the cabinet frame, with a magnet in the door.
  • Some models use a mechanical plunger switch near the top or side of the opening.

Basic checks:

  • Open and close the door while observing the interior light. If the light does not change state, suspect the switch.
  • Check that the door closes fully and that the magnet (if used) is present and aligned with the sensor location.

Electrical test:

  • Access the switch by removing the inner trim or control housing.
  • Disconnect the switch and test for continuity while actuating it (closing the door or pressing the plunger). The state should change between open and closed.

Corrective actions:

  • Adjust door: If the door is sagging, adjust hinges so the magnet aligns with the sensor.
  • Replace switch: If the reed or plunger switch does not change state, replace it with a Blomberg-compatible door switch.
  • Repair wiring: Fix any broken or pinched wires in the door frame area.
  • If the switch and wiring are good but E11 persists, the main PCB door input circuit may be faulty and require replacement.

Test: Restore power and verify that the interior light and any door-ajar indicators operate correctly and that E11 clears.
