Possible Causes

Loose or oxidized connector between display board and main PCB, Damaged display PCB, Faulty communication line in wiring harness, Main control board communication driver failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect mains power before removing the control panel or accessing the electronics.

Access the control panel:

  • On upright Blomberg freezers, remove the screws securing the top or front control fascia.
  • Carefully pull the panel forward to expose the display PCB and wiring harness.

Inspect connections:

  • Locate the multi-pin connector(s) between the display board and the harness.
  • Unplug and re-seat each connector several times to clean contacts. Check for bent pins or corrosion.

Check harness continuity:

  • Trace the harness from the display to the main control board (usually at the rear or base).
  • With the unit unplugged, use a multimeter to verify continuity on each communication line if you have access to the pinout.

Visual inspection of PCBs:

  • Look for burned components, cracked solder joints, or moisture damage on both the display PCB and main PCB.

Corrective actions:

  • Secure wiring: Ensure the harness is not pinched by cabinet panels and is firmly clipped in place.
  • Replace display PCB: If the display is unresponsive, segments are missing, or there is visible damage, replace the user interface/display board with a Blomberg-compatible part.
  • If the display board appears good and wiring is intact but E6 persists, the main control board may have a communication fault and should be replaced.

Test: Reassemble the control panel, restore power, and verify that all buttons respond and that E6 does not reappear.
