Possible Causes
Warped or damaged door gasket, Misaligned or sagging door hinges, Items inside preventing full closure, Cabinet not level causing door to swing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the unit is stable before adjusting hinges.
Check for obstructions:
- Inspect shelves and baskets to ensure no items are protruding and hitting the door.
- Rearrange contents to allow the door to close freely.
Inspect gasket:
- Look for tears, hardened sections, or gaps between the gasket and cabinet.
- Use the paper test: close a sheet of paper in the door at various points; it should be held firmly.
Corrective actions:
- Warm and reshape gasket: Use a hair dryer on low to gently warm warped areas and press them into place until they cool.
- Adjust hinges: Slightly loosen hinge screws and adjust the door position so it aligns squarely with the cabinet, then retighten.
- Level cabinet: Ensure the freezer is slightly tilted back so the door closes by gravity.
- Replace gasket: If the gasket is torn or cannot be reshaped, replace it with a Blomberg-compatible door gasket.
Test: Close the door and verify it seals all around and does not pop open.
