Possible Causes
Ice blockage in defrost drain hole, Food debris or sludge in drain tube, Drain heater (if fitted) not working, Cabinet not level causing water to overflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before working inside. Use towels to manage water.
Access the drain:
- Remove drawers and the rear interior panel to expose the evaporator and drain trough.
- Locate the drain hole at the bottom of the trough.
Clear blockage:
- Use warm (not boiling) water in a turkey baster or squeeze bottle to flush the drain hole.
- Repeat until water flows freely into the drain pan above the compressor.
- Use a flexible plastic drain brush or pipe cleaner to dislodge debris if necessary.
Check exterior drain tube:
- From the rear, locate the drain tube leading to the drain pan.
- Ensure it is not kinked or blocked; clean if needed.
Level the cabinet:
- Use a spirit level to check that the freezer is slightly tilted back so water flows to the rear.
- Adjust front leveling feet as required.
Test: Restore power and monitor over several days to ensure no new water accumulates inside the compartment.
