Possible Causes
Loose or damaged harness between user interface and main control board, failed user interface PCB, main control board communication failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before removing any control panels.
Steps:
- Power reset: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect. If F7 returns, continue.
- Access user interface: On Fisher & Paykel freezers, the UI is typically on the door or front panel. Carefully remove the trim and screws to expose the display PCB.
- Check connections: Inspect the ribbon cable or harness between the UI and cabinet. Reseat connectors at both ends and look for corrosion or pin damage.
- Inspect for moisture: Check for signs of condensation or water ingress around the UI. Dry thoroughly and improve door seal if necessary.
- Board replacement: If wiring is intact and F7 persists, replace the user interface/display board. If that does not resolve the issue, the main control board may also need replacement.
