Possible Causes
Shorted temperature sensor, sensor not properly positioned, main control board not cycling compressor off, incorrect user settings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing sensors or control boards.
Steps:
- Verify settings: Ensure the set temperature is not at the coldest setting and that any Fast Freeze mode is off.
- Check sensor placement: Locate the freezer thermistor and confirm it is correctly mounted on the liner or evaporator area as designed, not dangling in free air.
- Test thermistor: Measure resistance at known temperatures and compare to Fisher & Paykel specifications. Replace the freezer temperature sensor if readings indicate a short or are out of range.
- Control board: If the sensor is correct but the compressor never cycles off, the main control board may have a stuck relay and should be replaced.
