Possible Causes

Loose or damaged communication harness between UI and main board, Corroded connectors at either board, Faulty display/control panel PCB, Failed main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing any control boards. Static discharge can damage electronics; ground yourself before touching boards.

  • Access control boards: Remove the front control panel cover (for the display/UI board) and the rear/top service panel (for the main control board), depending on model.
  • Inspect harness: Locate the multi-wire harness connecting the UI board to the main board. Check for pinched, cut, or chewed wires. Repair any damage with proper connectors; avoid twisting wires together without insulation.
  • Reseat connectors: Disconnect and reconnect the harness at both boards several times to clean contacts. Ensure each connector is fully seated and latched.
  • Check for corrosion or burns: Examine both boards for burnt components, discoloration, or corrosion around the communication connector.
  • Test operation: With panels still off but all connectors secure, plug the unit back in and see if E6 clears. Do not touch live components.
  • Replace faulty board: If the harness is good and E6 persists, replace the more likely failed board. Often the display/control panel board is replaced first. If that does not resolve it, replace the main control board.
  • Reassemble: Once the error is cleared, unplug again, reinstall all covers, then restore power for normal use.
