Possible Causes
Failed compressor start relay or PTC, Overheated compressor overload protector, Faulty inverter module (on inverter models), High compressor current due to internal compressor fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer. The compressor area contains high voltage components. Do not bypass safety devices.
- Access compressor compartment: Remove the rear lower cover to expose the compressor, start device, and wiring.
- Check ventilation and condenser: Ensure the condenser coils are not clogged with dust and that the rear of the unit has adequate clearance. Overheating can trigger E7.
- Inspect start device: On non-inverter models, the start relay/PTC and overload are mounted on the compressor terminals under a plastic cover. Remove the cover and inspect for burnt smell, rattling pieces, or melted plastic.
- Test start relay/PTC: Disconnect it and shake gently; if it rattles or shows burn marks, replace it. Measure resistance if you have specs; an open circuit indicates failure.
- Replace start components: Install a new Galanz compressor start relay/PTC and overload protector if damaged. Ensure they are firmly seated on the compressor pins.
- Inverter models: If your Galanz freezer uses an inverter compressor, inspect the inverter module for burn marks and ensure all connectors are tight. Inverter diagnosis beyond visual inspection should be done by a technician due to high voltage.
- Test run: Reinstall the rear cover, plug in the unit, and listen for the compressor starting smoothly. If E7 returns and the compressor is very hot or fails to start, the compressor itself may be failing and professional service is recommended.
