Possible Causes
Temperature set too low, Stuck or shorted temperature sensor, Main control board relay stuck on, Defective thermostat (mechanical dial models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing controls or sensors.
- Check temperature setting: Ensure the control is not set to the coldest position. Adjust to a mid-range setting and allow 12–24 hours for stabilization.
- Verify sensor operation: If the display shows an extremely low temperature that does not change, the cabinet sensor may be shorted. See the cabinet sensor fault section for testing and replacement.
- Mechanical thermostat models: If your Galanz freezer uses a dial thermostat, turn the dial from coldest to warmest and listen for a click. If there is no click and the compressor never shuts off, the thermostat may be stuck closed.
- Replace faulty control: For electronic models, a main control board with a stuck compressor relay can cause overcooling. For mechanical models, replace the Galanz thermostat if it does not cycle.
- Monitor product condition: Until repaired, consider moving sensitive items (like certain frozen produce) to another freezer to avoid quality loss.
