Possible Causes
Defective mechanical thermostat stuck in ON position, Shorted temperature sensor (NTC), Main control board relay stuck closed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing the control knob or electronic control board.
- Adjust setting: Turn the thermostat or electronic control to a warmer setting. Mark the current position and wait 12–24 hours to see if temperature rises to normal.
- Check thermostat click (mechanical): Slowly turn the dial from coldest to warmest. You should hear a click as it cycles off. If there is no click and the compressor never stops, the thermostat may be stuck.
- Sensor test (electronic): If your model uses sensors, a shorted cabinet sensor can cause overcooling. See the cabinet sensor fault section for resistance testing and replacement.
- Replace faulty control: For mechanical models, replace the Galanz thermostat. For electronic models, if sensors are good, the main control board may need replacement due to a stuck compressor relay.
- Prevent food damage: Until repaired, consider moving sensitive items to another freezer and avoid placing liquids in glass containers that can crack.
