Possible Causes
Door gasket leaking warm air, Freezer located in very hot environment, Dirty condenser coils, Temperature set too cold
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before cleaning coils or adjusting door hinges.
- Check ambient temperature: Ensure the freezer is installed in a room within the manufacturer's recommended temperature range (typically 10–32°C / 50–90°F). Very hot rooms cause long run times.
- Inspect door gasket: Close the door on a sheet of paper and pull it out. If it slides out easily all around, the gasket may not be sealing. Look for cracks, warping, or debris on the gasket and cabinet frame.
- Clean gasket: Wipe the gasket and mating surfaces with warm soapy water, then dry. This can improve sealing.
- Clean condenser coils: Vacuum dust from the rear or bottom coils and ensure the condenser fan (if present) is running.
- Adjust temperature: Set the control to a slightly warmer setting and monitor for 24 hours. Overly cold settings increase run time.
- Replace gasket if needed: If the gasket is torn or warped, install a new Galanz freezer door gasket. Warm the new gasket with a hair dryer on low to help it conform and seal.
