Possible Causes
Warped or torn door gasket, Door not closing fully due to misalignment or obstruction, Freezer overloaded and items preventing seal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No internal electrical work is needed; keep hands dry when working around the door.
- Inspect gasket: Look for tears, gaps, or hardened sections of the gasket. Close the door on a strip of paper at several points; if it pulls out easily, the seal is weak.
- Remove obstructions: Ensure food packages or baskets are not preventing the door from closing fully.
- Warm and reshape gasket: Use a hair dryer on low to gently warm warped areas of the gasket, then press them against the cabinet to help them conform. Do not overheat.
- Level the cabinet: Adjust leveling feet so the door naturally swings closed and aligns with the frame.
- Replace gasket if needed: If the gasket is damaged or will not seal, install a new Galanz freezer door gasket. Soak it in warm water before installation to improve flexibility.
