GE
Lighting Circuit Failure
Interior light does not turn on when door is opened
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Burned-out LED module or bulb, Failed door switch, Loose light wiring connector, Faulty main control light output
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before replacing light components or door switches.
Steps to restore light:
- Check door switch: Press the door switch plunger with the door open. If the light flickers or comes on intermittently, the switch may be failing. Replace the GE door switch if needed.
- Inspect light module: Locate the interior light lens, usually on the ceiling or side wall. Remove the cover and check for a burned or damaged LED module.
- Replace light: Install a new GE freezer LED light module or bulb specified for your model. Ensure connectors are fully seated.
- Check control output: If the switch and light module are good but the light never comes on, the main control board may not be supplying power to the light circuit and may require replacement.
Note: Some models delay light activation slightly; verify after closing and reopening the door.
