Freezer shows E8; compressor may run continuously or not at all; temperature control appears lost.

Warning: The main PCB carries mains voltage. Unplug the freezer and wait several minutes for capacitors to discharge before touching the board. If you are not experienced with electronics, seek professional service.

• Access main PCB: Typically located in a rear or top electronics box. Remove the cover screws and carefully open the housing.
• Visual inspection: Look for burnt areas, bulging capacitors, cracked solder joints, or melted connectors. Smell for burnt electronics.
• Check connectors: Reseat all harness connectors to ensure good contact. Inspect for heat discoloration on relay terminals.
• Basic tests: If you have the skills and tools, verify that the PCB receives correct mains input and outputs correct voltages to low-voltage circuits (only on a live unit and with proper safety precautions).
• Replacement: If obvious damage is present or E8 persists after reseating connectors and power cycling, replace the main control board (PCB). Transfer any configuration jumpers or EEPROM modules as specified by Gorenje service documentation.
