Possible Causes
Faulty mechanical thermostat stuck closed (older models), Shorted temperature sensor (NTC), Main PCB not responding to sensor input, Relay contacts welded closed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing controls or sensors.
- Check temperature setting: Confirm the set temperature is not at the coldest setting or in super freeze mode.
- Test mechanical thermostat (if fitted): Rotate the thermostat knob from coldest to warmest and listen for a click. If no click and compressor runs constantly, the thermostat may be stuck closed and should be replaced.
- Test NTC sensor: For electronic models, measure the resistance of the compartment sensor and compare to expected values. A shorted sensor can cause overcooling.
- Inspect PCB relay: If the compressor relay contacts are welded, the compressor will run continuously. This requires PCB repair or replacement by a technician.
