Possible Causes
Dirty condenser coils, Weak compressor, Partial refrigerant leak, Blocked capillary tube or filter drier
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before cleaning or accessing the rear. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system unless you are certified.
- Clean condenser: Remove the rear lower panel if present and gently vacuum or brush dust from the condenser coils and any condenser fan.
- Check ventilation: Ensure there is adequate clearance around the freezer and that warm air can escape from the rear or sides.
- Door sealing: Inspect the door gasket for leaks that could allow warm air in. Repair or replace if necessary.
- Monitor compressor and frost pattern: After running for 20–30 minutes, the evaporator (behind the inner panel) should have an even light frost. If only a small section frosts or none at all while the compressor is hot, there may be a refrigerant or compressor issue requiring a refrigeration technician.
