Safety first: Unplug the freezer before deep cleaning. Avoid mixing cleaning chemicals (e.g., bleach and ammonia).
- Empty and defrost: Remove all food and shelves. Allow any ice to melt.
- Clean interior thoroughly: Wash all surfaces with a solution of baking soda and warm water. Pay attention to corners and seams.
- Clean gasket folds: Use a soft brush and mild detergent to clean inside the door gasket folds where mold can grow.
- Check and clean drain pan: At the back, remove and clean the drain pan above the compressor. Dry completely before reinstalling.
- Deodorize: Place an open box of baking soda or activated charcoal inside the freezer for several days to absorb residual odors.
